I generally don't review books.

I couldn't help but pick up a book tonight at the bookstore.

Inspired Cable Knits

Wow, just wow. I flipped through this book expecting to see a lot of pretty droolworthy wool sweaters. Um, NOT! There are 7 of 20 patterns that used 0% wool. Now that might not seem like a lot to you, but seeing beautiful 100% cotton, silk, hemp and other stuff with pretty cables holding up is amazing.

These sweaters will take a LONG time however, most of them are at a very fine gauge. They are classic and worth it. On my list of to knit: Peek a Boo (the last white sweater but no icord), Celtic Icon (the hoodie, but it looks like Rogue and I own that pattern), Open to Change (a beautiful cotton sweater) and Go with the Flow (a cotton tank top).

Very worth it if you love cables. Not so worth it if you aren't patient enough ;)

My SP7 is Anita!!

I got a final 2 SP packages yesterday. I wasn't to open the secret second one until today. Okay, I cheated. I couldn't help it! Look at all the great stuff she sent! Thank you so much! We have a lot in common! I can't wait to go back and read her blog a lot!

Raven loved the package too. She liked the carrot and bunny shaped bells. I think those will be mine though. She can bond with the peep :) The blue sky alpaca (is purple btw) is SOOO soft. Raven took the tag and ran off with the skein. No, that's mine too! The Moda Dea is funky, and I think I'll make a bunny or a bear from my new book!

Of course, marking off my row with an S shaped sticky!

Thanks so much sweets!

And I've been a bad knitty sp! I'm so sorry SP that I haven't thanked you publically for my puzzle! As you can tell, I haven't been posting much, work is eating me alive. I'll get a photo of that too soon, but I can't find where my husband put it!

WIP it out!

WIPs are always better with bunnies. I took this photo in Raven's room, as it was the only one with light :) I'm 1" away from starting the cables on the bottom of the tank :)

I'm not joking when I say I like 1 project at a time!

Impulse buy.

I bought this pattern pictured above. Its just supercute. Okay, its easy too.

And yes, it looks just like my darn hemp pattern. However, I still don't have yarn for this but I do for the hemp. It calls for Cotton Fleece, and that ain't gonna happen. Why am I not jumping on the hemp pattern? I don't know! Maybe I should get to it after this tank top is finished.

WIP it out :)

Your mission, should you choose to accept it. This Friday, March 31st, Elspeth hereby decrees to be "WIP it Out" Day. You will show us your works in progress, thus keeping yourself honest and giving us incentive and encouragement to work on our own.

Sounds fun!

Ropes and Ladder Scarf

This is my Ropes and Ladder Scarf, by pieknits.com. I used the rest of my Knitpicks Decadence, lesss than 2 balls and 10.5 needles. I like it a lot. In fact, it was done on Monday, and I've been wearing it all week. It hasn't been sunny enough to take a photo. We got snow though!

This is a great pattern, and looks great. My only problem is that I ran out of yarn 4 rows before the end. Doh! Only I would notice (and another knitter) anyway. I was too lazy to rip back to a pattern repeat. Hehe.

On the needles (there was nothing for a few days, I've been so busy!) now is the Cabled Tank Top. I guess I'm on a cable kick. I'm using Caron Simply Soft because I have it. I can't remember why I bought it! Anyway, it will be washable. And black. I started that last night at 2am. Yes, another sleepless night.

A great mail day!

I got 2 great suprises from my SP7 today :)

1st was a St. Patricks Day card. Its an American Greetings card, FROM my secret pal! Isn't that cute? Haha! Came on the right day too! So did the package!

I got Watership Down, which I haven't read forever. In fact, I lost my copy, so I'm happy to have this. Chocolate (which were inhaled, sorry), and a cool binder needle holder from Split Yarn. Ultra cool!

I'm so happy, thanks SP!

Finally

Here are the Cabled Fingerless gloves/mits whatever that I started on the plane. A quick knit, if you actually take the time to knit them. I used a size 6 needle, and should of used a 5, since they are big. My hands aren't that huge. The photo here actually makes them look correct, I mean if I took the time to block them and all.

Its too nice out to wear them of course.

*le sigh*

Dear Knitpicks,

Thank you for making Shine in black. You rock my socks.

No, really. I love you. This will make so many kickass things.

Love, Me.

(now I just have to get over the shock of our moving bill. Eek!)

Oops.

Okay. I admit it. I bought The Happy Hooker, a damn cr*chet book.

Only because it has bunny slippers in it....

Heh. Okay, there are some cute patterns too. But bunny slippers? Come on! I can't pass that up!

So, what are um, good quality cr*chet hooks? I'm so asking for trouble here!

Its all fun and games until your back hurts.

Ugh. The move wasn't amazing. That's all I can say. We are all here, and now we can all shower at OUR place, not at my inlaws. The bunny hates me, and will NOT set one paw on the hardwood. Even when I force her. The cat is still testing the waters with how far she can go (what do you mean I can't go visit the neighbours) and she can open all of the closets.

The takeoff for our first flight was like watching lost. I swear, taking off during a big storm is NOT fun, and I had no motion sickness pills on me. So that screwed my knitting time. Oh, and the lady behind me freaked out and was banging on my seat when I put it back a notch. Ya. I did manage to get this much done in the few hours I knitted:

Oh, and the chocolates are for Ben, from our Chocolatier down the street. Nice huh? A swiss truffle and some sort of chocolate and coffee thing. I have no idea. I got a checkerboard carmel and praline filled thing. I think. I can't remember. I haven't bit into it yet.

I'll return to my regular knitting schedule when I get something to sit on. Saturday won't come soon enough! Bring me my couch Ted (the driver/mover)! These floors are freaking hard!

PS: This is our apt. We have the whole side of the bottom right. East, if you will ;)
