It is for a coworker, well, was. I finished it "early" (aka, the shower is on Saturday) and popped it in the wash.

My knots came undone. Terribly undone. You see, at the beginning I wasn't leaving much of a tail because I was pulling my knots really tight. Or so I thought.

<img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4077/4886831862_351950263d.jpg" width=450">

I tried to darn it, and well, it sucks. A lot. I'm pretty upset as this has taken months. I'm 95% positive I'm going to donate it to the animal shelter. I have the baby kimono sweater from my last post I can give her with a gift card. I'm just so embarrassed I made such a stupid mistake. If I had left longer tails I could have avoided this.

Okay, this is for a really robust baby or a toddler. Either way, It turned out cute and I got rid of the last of my Cotton Tots that was in my stash. I worked on it on Sundays causally and it wasn't bad at all. I did finish it on Sunday, but it didn't get washed until last night. Whoops!

I'm currently working on a baby blanket in netural colours. I think I might die, however the mom will appreciate it. I really need to plan a black project after this blanket or I might combust!Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-12152803463896253602010-04-26T20:24:00.000-05:002010-04-26T20:24:37.468-05:00I completely dropped the ballBall of yarn that is. Wow. I was working on Katrina and I really didn't like it. I still worked on it each Sunday but I wasn't really into it (obviously if I only worked on it Sundays).

Sunday I spread it out, with about 10 inches to go and deemed it crap and ripped it out. I can use that Calmer for something nicer. The increases looked sloppy and the traveling rib was weird. So, it is in a ball right now.

Tonight I decided to start to knit for some of the babies I know are on their way. A plain baby kimono to start in cotton tots leftovers. I also have this navy bamboo in my trades that could make something nice too. I think navy is just fine for a baby, however I have NO idea what to make with the 600 yds I have. Hrm. So 600yds, bumpy-ish bamboo at 20 sts per 4. Something too plain might make it look sloppy.

So sorry for ditching the blog for so long, I was just in an unhappy knitting place. Now that it is frogged I can get on with my life ;)Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-85742179793226647952010-02-24T08:14:00.000-06:002010-02-24T08:14:27.151-06:00Krista is done<img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4052/4384910102_baa4af6db8_o.jpg" width=450">

Wow, I really can knit when I put my mind to it! I did take 2 days off because well, I didn't want to knit. I also took an extra 2 days to sew on the sleeves. Yeah. I was done Sunday, but finished on Tuesday night. It also took me 2 weekend days to get the sleeves done. I lost a bit of steam ;) I'm suprised it didn't take a lot of yarn. It took 348 yds! I added 3" to the bottom and still had to really block it out to make it decent. No waist shaping, but I did do it in the round so I didn't have to seam up the sides. I was way too lazy to remember decreases and stuff, so I just kept the extra stitches. It doesn't look bad.

I'm so happy with how Canada has been doing in the Olympics. I got my Olympic Mittens from Vancouver so I can cheer on my home and native land. I'm planning on doing the Krista Tee. I need a good swift kick in the butt to knit more! I swatched and I got gauge but the sizing is weird. I'm just gonna go with the flow though. I look forward to starting on Friday.Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-29153460260208386602010-01-31T16:14:00.000-06:002010-01-31T16:14:31.328-06:00Reverie, I am lazy

Oh Reverie. I finished you a few weeks ago, even blocked you. The weather has been gloomy and horrible so I had to put off taking a photo until last week.

So yes, it took me a week to post about it. It is cute, but I haven't even really worn it yet. I'm not in love with the stockinette roll with the ribbing. It is just a bit... dorky on me.

Oh well. I mean, I will wear it eventually. It is a slouchy beret and all :)Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-50877661923851907172010-01-01T15:28:00.002-06:002010-01-01T15:28:36.712-06:002009 Finished Items
January
I like how it turned out. I need to block it but I'm ultra lazy lately. Oh well. The cotton angora is nice. Not super fuzzy and perfect for a hat. Of course I forgot to wear it today. Brr!

Excuse the weird pic. I got a new camera for xmas and I haven't figured it out yet. And it was REALLY cold outside so I gave up. So yeah, it looks like a black blob, but it is much nicer in real life :)Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-45050665432724254612009-11-16T21:12:00.000-06:002009-11-16T21:15:48.794-06:00Star Crossed Slouchy BeretYes, I think I'm addicted to slouchy berets. The fact that I actually wear them means that knitting so many isn't a bad thing. I tend not to wear my knitwear. How sad is that? I mean, I get a lot of use out of both of my clapotis but that's about it if you don't count the berets I wear. Hmm.

I do really like this one, but it is a bit loose. Nothing a few clips can't fix in the wind! Made out of leftover comfy, and I still have some left! Eek!

Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-2687325702932582822009-11-16T21:09:00.001-06:002009-11-16T21:11:45.626-06:00Cute Neckwarmer

Long time no post! I have been knitting, seriously. First of all, I've been knitting more than I have been blogging, and I have proof of finished objects. The first is this one, the Fan Neckwarmer. Yes, I bought the pattern. Seems kinda silly to buy really. It is pretty simple. I do like it though. It is made out of bamboo so I will probably wear it quite a bit. I finished it on October 20th and didn't bother to blog about it. Whoops. It has even been through the wash and it held up great.Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-50949700096553989262009-10-11T20:51:00.000-05:002009-10-11T20:55:50.117-05:00Jasmine Fingerless Mitts

These turned out nice and cosy, however they are too big for me. Oh well. A good gift for a guy, already made! Sweet! Embarrassingly I finished these September 13th and still didn't blog about them until now. Whoops.

Now I'm working on a scarf and that should be done in a few weeks. It is starting to get cold so I'm going to have to bust out some of my knitwear and see what I want to knit next! That's the fun part.Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-1938278915288277982009-09-09T21:43:00.000-05:002009-09-09T21:48:12.633-05:00I go awol when not motivatedSo yeah. I haven't been knitting much. I really got unmotivated by my project. Okay, the pattern was boring as sin and took forever. The yarn I do really like. However, the pattern wasn't working for me. I felt like I wasn't making headway so I never knit on it... therefore never making headway.

Get it?

Clear as mud. When you don't have a project you like, you don't work on it! Hah!

So on Sunday I decided to rip out my 2 months or so worth of work. Okay, I pulled it off the needles. I haven't frogged yet. And tonight I started the Jasmine Fingerless Mitts. A nice easy pattern. I also have a bunch of small patterns queued up since I'm going to Toronto for a week next week and need something to keep busy! I'll probably be done these by then ;)

Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-74694980217964745392009-08-04T20:55:00.001-05:002009-08-04T21:02:16.946-05:00Camo Directional Scarf

For not liking colour I really dig the way this turned out. I did use the 2 skeins I had which is also a bonus. I also finished this in July, I’ve just been bad about posting.

What have I been up to? Well, a lot of trashy reading, and I’ve only been really knitting once a week. Not that it is a bad thing, it is just a slump. I’ve been baking a lot too. In my post below you see another big time sucker, my new motorcycle. All of these things take away from my knitting time. I’m currently working on a scarf now and I never see progress. That is kind of hard on the product not process girl ;) I guess if I actually knit more than a few hours a week I would see change.

Not giving up knitting, just trying to balance out things. I know I’ll go through another spurt in no time. And sorry about the lagging blog. Whoops. I’m so bad!Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-9115040452782497242009-08-04T20:54:00.000-05:002009-08-04T20:58:30.706-05:00River, and I’m so behind!

I'm SO behind on blogging. Holy crap. I finished this July 8th, and I can't believe I didn't blog about it. I love it. It is so nice and light and airy from the kidsilk haze yet warm. It is going to be a great wedding gift. The pattern was pretty easy minus one row I always had issues on (where the zig starts to zag). It is super pretty and I think it is wearable.

Me being all artistic and stuff. Hahah!Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-66665184533302167632009-06-28T11:39:00.001-05:002009-06-28T11:45:30.621-05:00Gathered Scarf

I can see why making this in wool might be a better choice, however I do like the drape of the bamboo. I think if I initially wear it doubled up it won't grow too much. My final length ended up being 75 inches. Whoops. I just knitted until I didn't have enough for another repeat (thank you digital scale!). It was a fun project and I recommend it, but changing the needle sizes can be a pain. I used my Denise set and it was perfect.

I bought a ton of calmer the other day on a whim. I haven't bought yarn in a long time, and it was weird. I can use calmer for so many things, and I got it for $5.25 a ball! In black! How could I say no? Anyway, it is funny because I rearranged all my yarn and it won't all fit in my storage system. I have some high rubbermaid drawer systems from my soap company stuff that I was going to donate so I though they would be perfect. They would be if I didn't have so much yarn. Then again, it didn't all fit in my rubbermaid totes, so I guess that says something. And I have a tower of non black yarn. What is up with that? I need to make some more coloured gifts it seems. Hmm.Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-42701105250909506622009-05-28T21:00:00.000-05:002009-05-28T21:02:01.208-05:00Blanche

Wow. This project was weird. I mean, it wasn't bad but I should have read the pattern. The decreases are NOT in pattern, just plain stockinette. So weird, and kinda lazy. However, it was a free pattern so I can't bitch. If I had paid, well, there would be paragraphs about that.

But it is a nice hat. Perfect to tuck in my bag or purse.Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-53817321726409750902009-05-07T20:39:00.001-05:002009-05-07T20:40:39.828-05:00Tea sleeve

This is the first of hopefully many coffee sleeves. Really easy to make, especially since this one is knit until it fits around the cup. I want to make a few that are circular as well. A great way to reduce a little bit if you are using a paper cup, and great for scraps. I used some unknown acrylic for this and still have a bunch left.Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-43301985159083685922009-05-03T10:35:00.000-05:002009-05-03T10:36:41.127-05:00Ballet Tee

Okay, I finished this LAST Sunday. How is that for blog posts? Whoops. This turned out okay, but believe it or not, I think it is a tad big. The yarn (Knitpicks Comfy) is really soft. I do like it quite a bit!

Other than that I'm just knitting on a coffee cup holder and trying to decide on my next project.Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-131808643153153422009-03-23T19:06:00.000-05:002009-03-23T19:09:06.341-05:00Calorimetry

This was a quick knit on Sunday. I used the leftover Blackberry Patch Alpaca, and I think I still have some left. Hrm. Cat toys? Who knows! Anyway, this is going to be nice for winter. The alpaca is warm, but a bit scratchy. Nothing too horrible, but it will keep my ears a bit warmer. The pattern was easy as pie.Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-9158965468306586962009-03-23T19:04:00.000-05:002009-03-23T19:06:33.392-05:00Lemongrass Bolero

I think I will get a lot of use out of this kimono like cardigan. The Plymouth Sunsette is really soft, but I was really afraid of running out of yarn, so I did stop the length a bit. I put it through the washer and dryer and it looks pretty good. This will be great for the summer since I'm always cold!Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-32258483533700444652009-03-19T14:53:00.001-05:002009-03-19T14:53:51.540-05:00HiOh wow. I'm such a slacker. Obviously. I don't know how I've been feeling about knitting lately, so I haven't had much to talk about. Don't get me wrong, I'm not about to quit or anything. This has been a very long standing hobby. I think it is coming close to my herbalism hobby I had growing up. Sidenote: you would think that this hobby would bloom now that I have a yard and garden space, man, I'm such a slacker.

So back to knitting. I like it. I especially like it socially. I really have a good time knitting on Sundays with the knitters. However, I don't feel inspired to knit at home. It could be I have too many distractions. Like video games, tv, dvds, and even baking. I do like knitting though. Really!

In knitting news, I should be done my bolero by the end of the week. It looks to be very wearable. It is taking a lot more yarn than advertised though! Stay tuned for photos!Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-39848080272179649072009-02-14T11:30:00.000-06:002009-02-14T11:35:53.288-06:00Funny, it doesn't remind me of Jamaica

This was a pretty fun knit. Size 10 needles and short rows made for some mindless knitting, which is what I needed. I really love the Cathay I used, it is nice and soft. I now have a single ball of red left, what to make? Hrm.

I am going to cast on for the Lemongrass Bolero tonight. I hope it is another nice knit. I'm into mindless knitting lately it seems. Or at least quick. Maybe I should just make an army of bulky scarves? I don't know. I do know I need to clean up my knitting area upstairs. It is getting to be a mess. And another bad thing is that my stash doesn't fit in my bins anymore. I gave up trying to get the lids to click. That is BAD. It isn't bad that I have a lot of yarn, but it means I'm just not knitting as quick as I used to.

I know. It isn't about speed. It is about having fun. But this means I really need to use up my stash a bit. I have an overflowing bin of COLORED yarn. Seriously. I understand the black bin overflowing, but seriously? Colored yarn. Too much. I need to make a ton of gifts!Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-47269899017395830052009-02-06T19:25:00.000-06:002009-02-06T19:29:03.415-06:00Foliage

Too short! I got gauge for bulky, but should have added another repeat. Oh well, it only took 2 days. I do have way more than enough yarn to make another one or something else, so I'm not very worried.Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10242801.post-435552173185855142009-01-31T11:24:00.000-06:002009-01-31T11:28:24.682-06:00Feb Lady Sweater

I really like the idea of this sweater, but I don't think I would use this elann cable cotton for it again. It just isn't super comfy. Then again, I haven't washed the heck out of it, so that could be it as well. It turned out nice, and I think it will look very cute over some summer dresses and it doesn't look too horrible with a long sleeved tee either.

I need a hat or something next. I'm glad I did this sweater, but it felt like a lot longer than 6 weeks to finish it believe it or not. I also have some scarves lined up as well. I guess the snow is getting to me!Shannonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10033853185757528228noreply@blogger.com3
