Update, because I can dammit.

So I went to Cottage Yarns, and was inside for a whole 30 seconds. I didn't want to browse, I had no benedryl on me (and I had to pee dammit). Damn $10 + tax later for stupid size 10 DPNs. The 10.5s were almost $12. Bloody hell I'm so spoiled by shopping online.

I was supporting a LYS, blah blah blah.

Hey, I can start Fuzzy Feet tonight! I think I'll do then all on DPNs, I'm very very lazy when it comes to changing needles. Or maybe I will do circs and change, I have some new bamboo interchangeables to break in!

Okay, this sucks.

I don't have size 10 or 10.5 (10 in the book, and 10.5 on knitty) DPNs for my damn fuzzy feet. Neither does Michaels (which is the only place open at 9am.

Yarn stores seem to hold business hours during BUSINESS HOURS...you know, like, when I'M AT WORK.

So either I have to NOT go to the gym and go to the damn yarn shop that's kinda close to work (and pray to the wool gods that they don't smite me down with their fiber of death), or I think of something else to knit.

I went through my list last night and I don't really want to start another sweater. Or cami. And I forgot my damn SnB Nation to copy out the bunny ears from the baby hat. (I'm just copying the page for my own use so I don't have to lug around the whole book to stl.)

I could just make hats and such for the week. I guess. Blah.

Angelina, she's beautiful.

Okay, my loving DH is the worst photographer ever. I was self snappy for about 30 minutes (yes, at almost 8pm with fading light) and all I was getting was blur. Very odd for me. So he took a few unflattering photos of me and Angelina. The neckline does match, and no, it doesn't generally bulge at my waist. I think. The second photo is to show the sleeves.

Stats: Angelina, by White Lies Designs.. 100% hand dyed cotton yarn by Interlacements (got it at Stitches).

My neck (and back) lace is 6 inches. I don't know why it looks like its a lot more in the photo they have. Maybe because mine is curling in on itself in the photo.

I forgot, my "real" journal.

I was talking about how I was going to bitch and complain when I was in STL on my normal blog. Its here on LJ.

If you have a LJ add me as a friend! I just seperated my knitting stuff to here because I know it was annoying my friends list with my babble. I have annon. posting disabled because of weirdo freaks who have stalking tendencies.

I'm in Secret Pal 5!

Here is my questionaire!

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?

Not at all. I love acrylics, since I'm VERY ALLERGIC to wool. I do think natural fibers are keen.

2. Do you spin? Crochet?

I can't really spin, and I'm horrid at crochet. In fact, it scares me. A lot. I can't understand the whole 1 needle thing, but I respect it!

3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)

WOOL and LANOLIN. Please don't send me wool. I break out in hives, it swells my throat and I can't breathe. Its not nice to kill your secret pal. I think I'm a bit sensitive to Alpaca, but I'm using it and I haven't died. That's a good thing.

4. How long have you been knitting?

This time around 2 or so years? Its hard to keep track! I learned when I was little and have gone off and on.

5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

Absolutely! Its right here! Don't mind all the soap books, I'm building my library and its for reference on what I don't have.

6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)

Probably peach. I love anything fruity or foodie smelling. Hate Patchouli.

7. Do you have a sweet tooth?

Oh yes!

8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?

I make soap, jewelry, sew, quilt...so many things. I've dabbled in just about everything! I LOVE being crafty!

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)

I *heart* MP3s :) CDs are good too. I like 80's poppy stuff, goth/industrial and things like that.

10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?

Blue. Black Black Black! I love jewel tones. Pastels just won't work out. At all. Also, I hate brown. I would take pastels over brown.

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

I have a DH, a kitty (Bella) and a bunny (Raven).

12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)

To work full time on my soap company ( The Alchemic Dragon ), to own a house, and to win the lotto. Oh, and "move back to Canada" is high on the list too.

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?

I've been loving cotton actually. Alpaca is for my next project. Its nice and "wool like" I think. Soy silk, bamboo, mmm...natural fibers rock, but I haven't rounded out my stash with them yet.

14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?

Wool. That whole death thing again. I'm not to into those ladder novelty yarns either, but they look cute in some scarves I guess *shrug*.

15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?

Finishing my Angelina! I'm loving sweaters, but I think I'm going to make at least a tank top or 2 before my next one.

16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?

Sweaters. Gifts of any kind. I love giving my work to people who appreciate it.

17. What are you knitting right now?

Angelina! She's going to be beautiful!

18. What do you think about ponchos?

Hate. They make me look like a hippo.

19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?

Circular all the way. I do everything on them.

20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?

I haven't tried Addis, just bamboo and plastic (Denise).

21. Are you a sock knitter?

I want to make half socks (the kind for clogs) but I guess I need a toe-up pattern. No idea. Its the only kind of sock I wear.

22. How did you learn to knit?

My grandma taught me when I was 3. I picked it up again as a teen, and then again a few years back.

23. How old is your oldest UFO?

A couple years I guess. I didn't keep anything from my other 2 attempts.

24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird?

BUNNIES!!!! And for birds: Peacocks. I have a huge back tattoo that's peacock wings.

25. What is your favorite holiday?

My birthday (November 14th), or I guess Halloweeen.

26. Is there anything that you collect?

Bunnies. Hobbies *smirk*

27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?

None! I do pick up Rebecca whenever I can find it.

28. Any books out there you are dying to get your hands on?

I love books.

Angelina, all you need is sleeves!

I finished the front last night! Don't mind my ribbon, I'll pull it out when I need it for the sleeves. Now all I need to do is lace on the sleeves and then seam it up! Oh, blocking too. Should I block before I seam? I probably will, I'm just concerned about blocking it too big, or too small.

This cotton is so pretty, but I didn't wash my swatch. Okay, I didn't have enough yarn for a swatch (remember I ran out a few times on my last sweater, so it wasn't an option to run out this time), so I know its all on me. It will be handwashed, and will be fine. I hope it doesn't run. I just jumped into this project without looking! Hah!

Hey. Its cotton. If it runs horribly, I'll dye it black.

London Beanie, A day in LA

Well, I flew to LA for the day for E3, a video game conference. It was kickass. I couldn't bring my huge cartigan on the plane (and lug it around all day with me) so I broke my cardinal rule and started another project.

Hey, with all the delays on the way back, I finished it before I got off of the plane!

Okay, its GREEN and BROWN. To be more specific: Knitpicks Andean Silk (Alpaca, Silk, Wool blend) with the London Beanie pattern. I'm exhausted from yesterday and I'm too lazy to colour correct. Also, I did the whole thing on DPN's because I wasn't getting it to work out well on the Denise set. A itty bitty bit of laddering that would be fine if I wanted to block it. Its only for Ben, and I don't think he cares honestly.

Am I still sensitive to the 22% wool, or am I allergic to Alpaca? I've worked with WoolEase (20% wool) and been "okay". Symptoms were light compared to straight wool with this. I had the itchy watery eyes, congestion (but even close to being as bad as with 100% wool, I could still breathe), but I didn't break out in rashes all over my hands (and other places the wool touched).

Its really soft. I don't think Ben appreciates it. I understand because I think its ugly as sin (I randomly did stripes and such) but it will keep his damn noggin warm. Now its up to him to test it out to see if HE is okay with Alpaca, and to see if he likes the pattern (its a bit short, she doesn't like them covering his ears, so it should work).

Now, back to my Angelina!

*#$*! lace.

So it seems like I can't do a 6 stitch repeat. I've frogged 4x now. Last night when I got home I put a little safety line in...it better help.

Lots more lace to do.

Angelina Lace

So, ever notice a bad yarn choice when you are over 50% done a project? Ever try to k3tog on a size 5 with cotton?

Yep. This lace is tiresome.

Now don't get me wrong, its going to be beautiful, but the lack of stretch and fighting with every stitch is pretty painful... physically AND mentally. I go up needle sizes gradually, so hopefully that will help.

Bright side: At least I'm done with the ribbing! Woo hoo!

I ended up cutting off most of the bottom edge...don't use microspun as "waste yarn". Hah. Talk about splitting everywhere! And pick a CONTRASTING colour. No, really. Unless you are insane like myself. Hey, I got all 180 stitches the first try! I consider THAT an accomplishment.

Angelina is coming along!

Its amazing how much you can get do when you can't work from home. I was upgrading my computer last night (yay for Tiger!), and I just knit at my desk!

*gasp*

I think this is going to be funky when its done :)

A fuzzy GREAT idea.

I just had this brilliant idea, after noticing I'm in a bunny-a-long. I'm planning on making fuzzy feet next, as a trial for felting alpaca and to see if they would make good xmas presents for the family.

Hello? Fuzzy feet? Fuzzy BUNNY feet?

Hell yes. I will add ears to these babies and make my own damn bunny slippers!

For those not in the know, I love bunnies and bunny slippers. A lot. a HELL of a lot!

*le sigh*
