The Story of Op Art

I do admit, it has taken me quite a long time to finish this blanket. It is for a coworker, well, was. I finished it "early" (aka, the shower is on Saturday) and popped it in the wash.



My knots came undone. Terribly undone. You see, at the beginning I wasn't leaving much of a tail because I was pulling my knots really tight. Or so I thought.



I tried to darn it, and well, it sucks. A lot. I'm pretty upset as this has taken months. I'm 95% positive I'm going to donate it to the animal shelter. I have the baby kimono sweater from my last post I can give her with a gift card. I'm just so embarrassed I made such a stupid mistake. If I had left longer tails I could have avoided this.

Okay, this is for a really robust baby or a toddler. Either way, It turned out cute and I got rid of the last of my Cotton Tots that was in my stash. I worked on it on Sundays causally and it wasn't bad at all. I did finish it on Sunday, but it didn't get washed until last night. Whoops!

I'm currently working on a baby blanket in netural colours. I think I might die, however the mom will appreciate it. I really need to plan a black project after this blanket or I might combust!

I completely dropped the ball

Ball of yarn that is. Wow. I was working on Katrina and I really didn't like it. I still worked on it each Sunday but I wasn't really into it (obviously if I only worked on it Sundays).

Sunday I spread it out, with about 10 inches to go and deemed it crap and ripped it out. I can use that Calmer for something nicer. The increases looked sloppy and the traveling rib was weird. So, it is in a ball right now.

Tonight I decided to start to knit for some of the babies I know are on their way. A plain baby kimono to start in cotton tots leftovers. I also have this navy bamboo in my trades that could make something nice too. I think navy is just fine for a baby, however I have NO idea what to make with the 600 yds I have. Hrm. So 600yds, bumpy-ish bamboo at 20 sts per 4. Something too plain might make it look sloppy.

So sorry for ditching the blog for so long, I was just in an unhappy knitting place. Now that it is frogged I can get on with my life ;)

Krista is done

Wow, I really can knit when I put my mind to it! I did take 2 days off because well, I didn't want to knit. I also took an extra 2 days to sew on the sleeves. Yeah. I was done Sunday, but finished on Tuesday night. It also took me 2 weekend days to get the sleeves done. I lost a bit of steam ;) I'm suprised it didn't take a lot of yarn. It took 348 yds! I added 3" to the bottom and still had to really block it out to make it decent. No waist shaping, but I did do it in the round so I didn't have to seam up the sides. I was way too lazy to remember decreases and stuff, so I just kept the extra stitches. It doesn't look bad.

I'm so happy with how Canada has been doing in the Olympics. I got my Olympic Mittens from Vancouver so I can cheer on my home and native land. Yay!

I'm planning on doing the Krista Tee. I need a good swift kick in the butt to knit more! I swatched and I got gauge but the sizing is weird. I'm just gonna go with the flow though. I look forward to starting on Friday.

Reverie, I am lazy

Oh Reverie. I finished you a few weeks ago, even blocked you. The weather has been gloomy and horrible so I had to put off taking a photo until last week.

So yes, it took me a week to post about it. It is cute, but I haven't even really worn it yet. I'm not in love with the stockinette roll with the ribbing. It is just a bit... dorky on me.

Oh well. I mean, I will wear it eventually. It is a slouchy beret and all :)

I casually knit on this on Sundays with the knit girls. I like how it turned out. I need to block it but I'm ultra lazy lately. Oh well. The cotton angora is nice. Not super fuzzy and perfect for a hat. Of course I forgot to wear it today. Brr!

Excuse the weird pic. I got a new camera for xmas and I haven't figured it out yet. And it was REALLY cold outside so I gave up. So yeah, it looks like a black blob, but it is much nicer in real life :)

Star Crossed Slouchy Beret

Yes, I think I'm addicted to slouchy berets. The fact that I actually wear them means that knitting so many isn't a bad thing. I tend not to wear my knitwear. How sad is that? I mean, I get a lot of use out of both of my clapotis but that's about it if you don't count the berets I wear. Hmm.



I do really like this one, but it is a bit loose. Nothing a few clips can't fix in the wind! Made out of leftover comfy, and I still have some left! Eek!

Cute Neckwarmer

Long time no post! I have been knitting, seriously. First of all, I've been knitting more than I have been blogging, and I have proof of finished objects. The first is this one, the Fan Neckwarmer. Yes, I bought the pattern. Seems kinda silly to buy really. It is pretty simple. I do like it though. It is made out of bamboo so I will probably wear it quite a bit. I finished it on October 20th and didn't bother to blog about it. Whoops. It has even been through the wash and it held up great.
